The Gifford Lectures Committee at the University of Aberdeen is a Committee of the University Senate. The Committee is interdisciplinary, with its fifteen Members drawn from various Schools across the University, and meets twice annually in Old Aberdeen.

University of Edinburgh

The Gifford Lectureship Committee at the University of Edinburgh is a Committee of the University Senate. The Committee is convened by the University Principal (or their deputy) and it is interdisciplinary, with its fifteen members drawn from various Schools across the University. It meets twice a year.

University of Glasgow

The Gifford Lectures Committee at the University of Glasgow is a sub-committee of the University Senate. The Committee is interdisciplinary, with its ten members drawn from various Schools across the University, and including the Director of the Hunterian and the Clerk of Senate.

University of St Andrews

The Gifford Lectures at the University of St Andrews are managed by the Honorary Degrees Committee (HDC). This committee is chaired by the Principal, with the membership consisting of the Master of the United College, the Senate Assessors, the Non-Academic Staff Assessor, the President of the Students’ Association, and a small number of senior members of university staff.

The School of Divinity and the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies take turns to nominate a list of potential lecturers for HDC consideration. The candidate selected by HDC is invited to give the Gifford lecture series by the Principal and Vice-Chancellor.

Christopher R. Brewer is President of Theoventure, L3C, a Low-Profit Limited Liability Company dedicated to promoting open-minded research in theology and religious studies through the management of grant-funded programs. He serves as Principal Advisor for Templeton Religion Trust’s Progress in Theology and Art Seeking Understanding grantmaking initiatives, and is an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Divinity, University of St Andrews. His work as Editor-in-Chief for giffordlectures.org is made possible by a series of grants from Templeton Religion Trust.
 
Dr. Brewer earned his PhD in Divinity from the University of St Andrews with a thesis on natural theology and the arts, and worked as Website Content Editor for giffordlectures.org 2014–18. He is now writing an introduction to natural theology for Zondervan Academic, and a Templeton Religion Trust-commissioned manifesto on the conditions of possibility for progress in theology. He is the editor or co-editor of nine volumes, including The Giffords for the 21st Century (forthcoming); Christian Theology and the Transformation of Natural Religion: From Incarnation to Sacramentality-Essays in Honour of David Brown (Peeters, 2018); and Howard E. Root, Theological Radicalism and Tradition: ‘The Limits of Radicalism’ with Appendices (Routledge, 2018).
