Abstract
This publication represents the second year of a panel discussion between philosophy, psychology and linguistics specialists and theorists. The Development of Mind presents theoretical arguments encompassing the evolutionary origins, individual development and cognitive prerequisites of the ‘mind’. Unlike The Nature of Mind, this lecture series includes one session where the authors attempted to answer questions submitted in advance by members of the audience, and in the last lecture the panel took it in turn to answer questions put to them by their other colleagues. As like the preceding series, each chapter is comprised of one main lecture, as well as responses and rebuttals to the argument or theory discussed. Bridging the gaps of cognitive, social and philosophical sciences, The Development of Mind is an intriguing investigation of both how and why the human mind has developed as it has.
