The Knowledge of God and Its Historical Development, vol. 2 1903–1905

Henry Melvill Gwatkin

Summary

Table of Contents

Abstract

This volume reads as much like a history of Christianity as a study of natural theology. The theme that runs throughout is the nature of revelation and the traditions of interpreting it in Judaism and Christianity. Additionally, it makes regular connections and comparisons between these traditions and Islam throughout. This volume contributed significantly to the authorís Early Church History (1909). Some critics have argued that anti-Catholic sentiment and lightly veiled criticism of Episcopalianism detract from the overall value of the lectures.
